Therapeutic Yoga
Exercise is a key component in all multidisciplinary pain management programs. Research shows that practising yoga leads to significant improvements in pain, functioning, depression and anxiety.
Your patients will attend small, well-supervised therapeutic yoga classes. No yoga experience is necessary.
The yoga techniques provided are combined with Western understanding of pain and people in chronic pain to address the following goals:
- decreasing nervous system hypersensitivity and wind-up.
- creating lasting adaptive changes and coping strategies in body and mind.
- restoring imbalances in flexibility, strength, motor control, balance, breath control, body tension and perceptions.

Please request that your patients contact Neil (250.486.5056) prior to attending their first class. Most will be asked to complete a physiotherapy assessment prior to their first class. This will enhance their experience in the yoga class and allow for better modifications and guidance.
